PROJECT DETAILS

LUZIA is a Cirque du Soleil show inspired by Mexican culture. The concept of space and time, along with the roles that the sun and the moon play, are explored throughout the entire production.

The large circular backdrop pictured below, is part of the permanent stage design and the object itself is used in many different ways thought the show. In our piece, the backdrop was turned into a projection surface that responded to the onstage performer’s key movements (i.e. walking, running, turning, falling, spinning the wheel, etc.).

I contributed to the storyboarding and animation of this piece.

STORYTELLING

This story begins in isolation and unfolds as a surreal adventure. The performer is on a spiritual quest towards a deeper understanding of oneself and ones place in this world. To get there, they must experience both the highs and the lows of enlightenment. Will they succeed in finding answers within their own fears?

Here are some highlights from this journey…
